Amaro needs to go

Mr. Amaro has been riding the Wade farm system development and Gillick trade acumen far too long.  For every solid move he has made there are 5 bad trades or deals.

This aging core has proven they can no longer win, but it's clear Amaron thinks they can stay healthy and compete.  I suspect some of the hard-headedness comes from the ownership groupo, who are likely concerned about lack of ticket sales/tv viewership without Rollins, Utley and the rest of the big names.

The bottom line is this team is old, slow, injury-prone and frankly not that fun to watch.  They need a fresh start and that begins with a new GM.

The End of an Era

Monday night signaled the end of the Andy Reid era in Philadelphia.  The game featured a little bit of everything that those calling for Reid's head could have wanted: turnovers, poor tackling, lack of quality depth apparent from the poor drafts, and a team that appears to have given up. The 2012 incarnation of the Philadelphia Eagles is simply not fun to watch.

Owner Jeffrey Lurie said 8-8 was not acceptable.  What if the Eagles get to 8 losses before the season ends?  Given the length of the relationship between owner and coach, I fully anticipate Lurie allowing Andy to coach out the rest of the season.  What if, given everything Andy has been through personally and on the field, he actually resigns?  I believe that is a more likely scenario then an in-season firing.  Either way, only time will tell.

Good ole Newt...

Here are the rates of charitable contributions in 2010 of the 3 people from whom we are likely choosing our next president: Barack Obama gave 14 percent of his income to charity, Romney gave 14 percent, and Newt Gingrich gave 3 percent.

This is not an endorsement of Obama or Romney, but a heartfelt request to remove Newt from the POTUS conversation.

Newsweek article

I know I do not dip my toe into the political landscape very often, but I just read a very well written editorial in Newsweek by Andrew Sullivan and wanted to share it with you all.

Want Andy Reid fired?

It's all about the bottom line. If fans do not watch, go to the games or purchase merchandise, that will create change. Going to games and booing does nothing; they will already have your ticket and concession money.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone has a tasty and relaxing holiday. We are starting the long weekend with a trip to Vetri's Amis tonight. It is definitely a long overdue destination; hopefully it lives up to the Vetri name.

Also, don't forget to brine the turkey today, it will be totally worth it!

Best Coffee in Town

If you're in need of some caffeinated deliciousness, I strongly recommend stopping by the new coffee truck located in Love Park.

Rival Bros. Coffee Roasters is run by Damien Pileggi, who roasts the beans locally in small batches. He's a long-time La Colombe guy and knows his stuff.
Check out their website at Rivalbros.com or stop by their facebook page. They sell whole or ground-to-order beans for your at-home drinking pleasure.
